Care and Maintenance
Knife: Wipe any moisture off of the knife after use to prevent rust. I strongly recommend keeping a light coating of a high quality tool wax on the knife for rust prevention. It comes with a coating of Wicked Wax on the blade, tang, and scales. Regular mineral oil also works decently. Never store the knife in the leather sheath for long periods of time, as this may cause rust. The high carbon steel blade may take on a patina with time, especially while cutting food items. The blade edge should be stropped regularly to maintain sharpness.
Leather Sheath: The leather sheath comes with several coats of Fiebing's Golden Mink Oil on it, which gives it good moisture protection. If the leather starts to feel like it is drying out, I recommend using either Mink Oil, or another quality leather oil on it. If the sheath ever becomes saturated with water, let it dry out slowly indoors, never use heat to speed the drying process.
